We place particular emphasis on manufacturing, research and innovation hubs, as well as the city center.

StrandOrt in Kiel is being developed into a forward-looking industrial and commercial hub. The more than 150-year history of industrial culture in the Alt-Friedrichsort area is being preserved and carried into the future through innovative approaches.

The Commercial and Industrial Land Strategy (GIFS) consolidates findings from recent analyses in Kiel and outlines recommendations for a citywide strategy in response to ongoing economic change, including its spatial implications.
The "Planning Dialogue" marks the first time that regional stakeholders from business development and planning authorities in the region of Kiel have worked together within a planning network. The aim is to further develop the region as a unified economic area. The Planning Dialogue aims to actively initiate and support the process of sustainable development for commercially significant sites of regional importance – from project and site development to marketing.
The "Rotenhof" is an example of intermunicipal industrial real estate – a successful cooperation by the municipality of Melsdorf and the state capital of Kiel. The equal partnership among all stakeholders serves as a forward-looking model for collaboration between neighboring municipalities.
