Commercial Real Estate EdisonDrei

New Uses for Old Sites: EdisonDrei

Our office and warehouse complex in Kiel-Wellsee is named "EdisonDrei" – a reference to its address at Edisonstraße 3. It has been owned by the KiWi since 2019, and has, since its purchase, undergone extensive refurbishment both on the inside and outside. The site redevelopment aimed to create a contemporary and conveniently located space for the expansion of existing Kiel-based businesses, as well as the establishment of new companies.

To strengthen Kiel as a dynamic and forward-looking business location, it is essential to provide suitable industrial and commercial sites for businesses. However, demand for land in the state capital, Kiel, exceeds its current and future supply. The challenge of land scarcity can be partially addressed through the innovative "repurposing" of existing sites.”

Thanks to the extensive regeneration of this industrial site, we have a fantastic opportunity to offer existing businesses in Kiel, amongst others, prospects for growth right here in Kiel. EdisonDrei provides the ideal conditions for our businesses, not only thanks to its convenient location but also due to its new and modern interior and exterior design.

The Busiest Company on Site

The smallest "business" among our tenants is based on the roof: our bee colony. Having moved in during spring 2021, the new arrivals quickly settled in and made the most of their surroundings. This partnership was made possible by the honey producer and urban beekeeping initiative Kieler Honig.

Among other things, the bees provide an important pollination service, thereby promoting biodiversity within the urban area. With our bees, we want to make a small contribution to sustainability, as well as inspire other businesses with the idea. Because we are (all) are flying high in Kiel’s business districts!
